HYS interview on Team Colonslash website

June 4th Commentary

Arie — Team Colonslash is back with their 3rd interview, the second one being with yours truly. They talked to HYS and discussed some recent happenings and future plans.

RD: Enough about Epsilon. I have been informed that you are not wasting time, and that a new team is in creation. Apparently, you want to contest TOP 4 teams. Can you tell us any details about that? Will it be a team of young potentials or premiership veterans? I heard there are a lot of bored premiership players in this season’s division 2B.

H: Yes, it’s true that I am interested in creating something new. I would say mostly the criteria is that the players have not played one FULL season in premiership, and I am mainly looking for players with raw deathmatching ability. I have asked around a few players for their opinions and formed a shortlist. We will look to start at the end of June (when week 7 of ETF2L’s Season 18 ends). It is likely that one player with premiership experience will assist me. That is the idea anyway, whether it goes ahead is another story ^^

ETF2L Season 18 Premiership Week 2 – rockit vs – VanillaTV + prizes to be won!

May 20th Announcement
Tagged: 21:15 arie Byte cp_badlands cp_gullywash_final1

Byte — Second week into the ETF2L Season 18 and it looks to be an exciting match between these two teams. Very contrasting in terms of team semantics. With rockit forming very late before signs up closed, that cheeky Irishman Admirable decided to tally along and be the veteran medic and guide his team to the playoffs.

rockit are yet to play any games, after they wildcarded their week 1 game versus BFF, playing their debut game as a team in prem tonight should set up the scene very well against the russians. who have already played and lost 6-0 against arguably the hardest team in prem this season Epsilon E-sports. While they know it was a long shot to win, I’m sure some of them will be glad they got this game out of the way so the team can build momentum.

Key players to look out for will be Forsak3n and ShaDoWBurn pairing, after hitler Forsak3n learning after me, and kicked msh, he had a few words to say about how he feels going into this match.

“we have no msh, its going to be hard”

Thoughts on Nationality in European TF2

November 20th Commentary
Tagged: language nationality tf2

Natural — In a time of ever-growing European unity, where even the French speak English to a somewhat understandable degree, the room for national belonging would appear to be slight. Indeed, the current trend is one of internationalisation with little room for the conservative conformism of being defined by one’s nationality. We are all European citizens as well as citizens of the world.

This not only holds true in the everyday lives we lead, it is also a factor when we play TF2 competitively. Whenever we go on IRC to find a game, it is an international environment. Every time we play a match, we are likely to square off against a multitude of nationalities. However, the pluralism of cultures does not only apply to our in-game foes: Even our own team mates are often going to be natives of other countries than the one we hail from. While I recognise the necessity for team diversity within a community that essentially isn’t very large, I also feel that the lack of single-nationality rosters is a shame.
